 BEST Food Nei Sadam recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup basmati rice (washed and soaked for 30 minutes)

2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1/2 teaspoon black gram (urad dal)

1/2 teaspoon Bengal gram (chana dal)

A few curry leaves

2-3 green chilies (slit lengthwise)

1/4 cup cashew nuts

Salt to taste

Instructions:

In a pot, bring about 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked rice and a bit of salt. Cook the rice until it's just done. The grains should be separate. Once cooked, drain any excess water and set the rice aside.

In a large pan or skillet, heat the ghee over medium heat.

Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add cumin seeds, black gram, and Bengal gram. Sauté until the dals turn golden brown.

Add curry leaves and green chilies. Sauté for a minute to release their flavors.

Add the cashew nuts and sauté until they turn golden brown. Remove a few cashews and set them aside for garnishing.

Now, add the cooked rice to the pan. Gently mix the rice with the tempering using a spatula. Be careful not to break the rice grains.

Check the seasoning and add salt if needed. Mix well and cook for a few more minutes to let the flavors blend.

Turn off the heat and cover the pan. Let the Nei Sadam sit for about 5-10 minutes so that the flavors meld together.

Give the Nei Sadam a gentle fluff with a fork before serving.

Garnish with the reserved cashew nuts.

Nei Sadam is typically served with yogurt, pickle, or any curry of your choice. Enjoy this flavorful and aromatic dish!

Remember, cooking times and ingredient quantities may vary, so adjust according to your preference.
